Updated with map Checkout the Look Out Point at Ampang, the latest and coolest place to catch a bird’s eye view of the city. Situated 10 km away from Ampang town, it sits on a slope along the winding road of the Pekan Batu 14-Ampang trunk road. Sometimes it can be pretty cold at night.
Though it was just newly launched early this year, the Look Out Point has already begun to slowly but surely pick up in its popularity. Families and lovebirds hang out at the Look Out Point; some for a brisk upward climb to its observation tower (Menara Tinjau) where you can have a tremendous view of the Kuala Lumpur city. There, viewers can catch a breath-taking view of the entire landscape with unmistakeable landmarks from Menara Telekom in Petaling Jaya to KL Tower, to Petronas Twin Tower.
There is also an interesting mini bird park on the other side of the Look Out Point, truly a place that nature lovers out there should not miss.
There is also dining place to have a coffee break called Kopitiam Rimba: Brother Joul’s at the entrance of the look out point. They serve nostalgic food such as steamed bread, toasted bread, and steamed sweet potato.
A perfect place to unwind and breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the city; without having to leave the city!

Main entrance gate to go up to Look Out Point, the road is quite steep, watch out!

Stairs climb up to observation tower, glad its not as high as Batu Caves stairs.

One of the main hall, still empty but looks like going to be a restaurant setup there.

Another observation area below the main hall, nice view!
Map to Look Out Point below:

Watch out for this road sign before the last traffic light, turn left towards Kajang

Follow the signboard to Look Out Point, the road is winding, becareful!

Hey has anyone been to this place revently? knowing out wonderful malaysian run places we neverknow till it becomes a beautiful abandoned place. ANd is it safe to go there at night?
Hi Kevin,
I’ve just been there last 2 months ago. You can be assured the place is wonderful and a good chill out place. In fact, if you go during weekend, it will be jam packed and cannot even park the car up there, have to park along the main road below. So, you can be sure it is safe, and i didn’t notice any of the restaurant there serve alcohol. Alcohol free trouble free, cheers!
Hi! I have just been there last nite. And I love the night scene.
Thanks for sharing anyway! ^^

Thanx 4 d map, will go tomorrow night to celebrate my gal birthday there but hope v could find easily lor….heee….. Any suggestion which Restaurant and food are delicious ? err….no beef please.. thx
I personally felt the food there is so so, not particularly nice. It’s more of enjoying the scenery and environment
You can try either Breads & Olive or Gasoline. They have open space sitting and better view.
Hi, got anyone know how is the direction way from kajang to look out point? I thinking to celebrate my fren bday at there.
I won’t go this place anymore.
My last visit on 18/10/2008. Some so call ‘management company’ are collecting RM3 for each car, the way they collect money just like robber, rude and don’t provide a good place for parking.
They don’t allow cars to go up hill for a drop off once the parking are full, this makes hard for told folks to walk up to the hill.
Food there are suck and mess up. Loud music spoiled the nice environment.
Don’t go there if you don’t wanna get MAD!
Jason

hi tomato,
if not mistaken, there is one restaurant open in the afternoon, and closing time is definitely past 12am, maybe until 1 or 2am. advise is to book earlier as it may be crowded that night.
Thank for you usefull information.
Never been there but will visit the place soonly.
Excellent information, thanks!
Looks like I’ll have to visit this place for the opportunity to take some potentially stunning photos of the KL skyline.
Hi… is the place… pet allowed? pls advice. thx

{From Jalan Ampang}
1. go straight along jalan ampang, u will passby Ampang Point and then Ampang Waterfront will be on your left

Nope, no entrance fees at all.
Does anyone have the updated contact number for the restaurant?
CAN I GET THE SIMPLY N CLEAR MAP ….PLS…..IM REALLY 1 2 VISIT THAT PLACE
I got the following road direction a while a go for Look Out Point from a forum, it may helpful
If you come from Sri Petaling using MRR2
On the left is Safari Shopping ( Lousy Ugly Landmark )
- Not far you will see MOBIL petrol station on the OPPOSITE side of the highway.
- SLOW DOWN and take the left slow lane ( Don’t go up flyover )
- Go along this slow lane and u will reach a ” Traffic Light ”
- Turn Right
- Go all the way straight
- Reach another ” Traffic Light ”
- Go all the way straight right to the bloody end
- Reach a ” T – Junction ”
- Turn Right
- Go all the way straight
- Reach a ” Roundabout ” Go ” 12 oclock ”
- On your left is a tadika ( landmark )
- Congratulations you are at the foot of Look Out Point
- It looks like a dead end but there is a road there just go along
- Pass by a ” Guard house ” ( If it’s still there ) or pass by 2 bumps
- Turn Left & you are on ur way up
there’s 2 ways to go, one is through pandan indah/ampang, another is through hulu langat. But i recommend u taking hulu langat route coz it’s easier for 1st timer.
Well, in cheras, just follow Kajang direction, you’ll pass by phoenix plaza, go straight until you reach Rm1 toll, after the toll, turn to the 1st junction, follow Air Terjun
Gabai/Sungai Congkak direction, go straight for about 8-10 minutes until you see a mosque at a traffic light, turn left, and turn left again go uphill. and there u go.
The uphill road is just 3 minutes. Wallaa!! You reach look out point
